Guitarhub respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other applicable privacy laws.

1. Data Collection and Minimization

We believe in collecting only what is absolutely necessary to fulfill your order. When you use our platform, we collect:

• Your Email Address: Collected automatically during the checkout process to communicate order updates, send invoices, and provide customer support.
• Shipping Address: Collected securely via Stripe during the final invoice payment phase to facilitate the physical delivery of your custom instrument.
• Order Specifications: The 3D configuration data (JSON snapshot) of your custom guitar.

2. Payment Processing, Security & Addresses

Guitarhub does not collect, process, or store your raw credit card information, bank details, or Primary Account Numbers (PANs). All payment transactions, including the secure collection of your shipping and billing addresses, are processed by our third-party payment gateway, Stripe, Inc., which is a certified PCI Level 1 Service Provider. Your payment and address data are handled directly by Stripe and are subject to Stripe’s Privacy Policy.

Note on Deposits: The initial $100 deposit is processed as an authorization hold. If the order is not fully agreed upon within 7 days, this authorization hold automatically expires and is released back to your card.

3. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)

Under the GDPR, our primary legal basis for processing your Email and configuration data is the Performance of a Contract (Article 6(1)(b)). We need this data to communicate with you regarding your custom build, issue invoices, and ensure the workshop receives the correct specifications.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We only share necessary information with:

• Master Luthiers / Workshops: They receive your configuration specifications, order ID, and your shipping address (only after final payment) so they can manufacture and directly ship the instrument to you.
• Stripe, Inc.: For processing payments, addresses, and fraud prevention.

5. Cookies & Tracking Technologies

Guitarhub uses strictly necessary cookies to ensure the basic functionality of our platform, including maintaining session security and facilitating the Stripe payment gateway. We do not use aggressive third-party tracking cookies for advertising purposes. By using our service, you consent to the use of these essential functional cookies.

6. Changes to This Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. The updated version will be indicated by an updated "Last Updated" date. We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically.

7. Your Rights & Contact

If you are a resident of the European Economic Area (EEA), you have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your data.
